Subject: Potter's Best!

The Tailor of Gloucester was Beatrix Potter's favourite of her children's books. It's a terrific Christmas story of compassion and forgiveness, generosity and kindness; there is also the wonderful character of Simpkins the cat who learns a lesson and changes his ways! Good for all ages. "No more twist!" they yell and the story continues.

Subject: Not one of Beatrix Potter's best

Beatrix Potter’s fine illustrations far exceed the story in this slender book. Although the tale begins well, something happens along the way, lessening the potential impact of the situation. Blessed with an intelligent cat, many clever mice, and an acceptable happy ending.
